The daily rhythm
Arrival and soft start
Children arrive, put away their own bags and choose a quiet table activity. A slow start makes a difference to how the rest of the day goes.
Circle time
Greeting, the calendar, the weather, a song — often in Spanish — and what we are going to do today. Everyone gets to say something.
Literacy and numeracy
The most focused part of the morning, while attention is freshest. Small groups, working at the level each child is actually at.
Snack
From home, eaten together. Children pour their own water and clear their own places.
Outdoor play
Running, climbing, digging, and the negotiating that happens when four children want the same bucket. Every day, in almost all weather.
Discovery and the arts
Science, music, painting, building or drama, depending on the day and on what the children have got interested in that week.
Lunch
Packed from home. Unhurried — we sit with the children rather than supervising from the side.
Rest and quiet time
Sleep for those who need it, books and quiet play for those who do not. Nobody is made to lie still for an hour.
Choice time
Children pick their own corner and work at it. This is where teachers do most of their observing, and where the best surprises happen.
Tidy up and closing circle
Everyone helps put the room back, then we gather to name one good thing about the day.
Pick-up
Released only to a parent or an adult named on the collection list. Photo ID if we have not met you before — every time, no exceptions.
Meals & snacks
You pack it, we make it calm
Children bring a labelled lunch box and a named water bottle. We eat together at tables, unhurried, and children clear their own places — it is part of the learning, not an interruption to it.
No peanuts or peanut butter, please. We have children with allergies who share the outdoor space. If your child has an allergy or a dietary requirement, tell us on the pre-registration form and we will build the day around it.
Fees
